How it Started

Rotorua Cycle Centre has been a family business at heart since Mike and Glendyr purchased the business in 1993.

With a passion for cycling and a commitment to serving the local community, they set out to create a bike shop where customers could expect honest advice, quality products, and friendly service. Over the years, the business has grown alongside Rotorua's cycling scene, supporting everyone from families and recreational riders to commuters and mountain bikers.

How its going


In 2018, the business entered a new era when it was rebranded as MyRide Rotorua. While the name changed, the values that customers had come to trust remained the same—friendly service, expert advice, and a genuine passion for cycling. Under the MyRide Rotorua brand, the store continued to support local riders and visitors alike, helping thousands of people find the right bike and enjoy everything Rotorua's cycling network has to offer.


A new chapter began in 2022 when Sam and Laura purchased the business. Proud to continue its family-owned tradition, they brought fresh energy and ideas while remaining committed to the principles that had guided the shop for decades. Their focus was on building strong relationships with customers, supporting the local cycling community, and delivering exceptional service.

In 2026, the business came full circle. After eight years as MyRide Rotorua, the decision was made to return to its roots and proudly reintroduce the Rotorua Cycle Centre name. The return of the original name reflects the shop's rich history, its strong connection to the Rotorua community, and its commitment to remaining an independent, family-owned bicycle store.

Today, Rotorua Cycle Centre continues to build on more than 30 years of history. From children's bikes and family rides to eBikes, road bikes, and mountain bikes, the mission remains the same as it was in 1993: to provide outstanding service, trusted advice, and help more people experience the joy of cycling.
